The MYP Philosophy
|
The MYP philosophy celebrates:
Breadth of knowledge – across all disciplines, academic and social, both in the classroom and beyond
Interdisciplinary study – to help students understand the interrelated nature of knowledge and the relevance of academic subjects and study to their own lives
Different approaches to learning – to equip students with a well-rounded skill set with which to meet future challenges, whether academic or social, physical or ethical
Study skills – to prepare students for the rigorous academic demands of school, university and the work place
Self awareness – to help students understand how they learn best, how they operate, what they value and how they should engage in their wider social community
Global perspective – to ensure students develop a broad-minded understanding of the world and a healthy respect for its myriad of people and cultures
Civic responsibility – to nurture the desire and confidence among students to engage proactively with their communities in the knowledge that they can make a real difference
The environment – to foster in students an understanding of our interdependence with the environment and the respect with which we should treat it
